Event/Scoring Rules - Revised May 2008

You must be a AAAA member to participate under the Flying Event Waiver.

Please remember you are the ambassadors for the ballooning community in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.

Always fly in conditions which you are comfortable - pilot's discretion.

Be aware that when you register each month you are signing the following: CERTIFICATE OF WAIVER and AUTHORIZATION (Attachment F), Certificate of Understanding, issued by the Albuquerque FSDO for compliance with the event waiver. SIGN IN CLOSES WHEN BRIEFING BEGINS.

Entry fee will be canned food or $3.00. Other contributions may be substituted for entry fee determined by the needs of the community voted on by the Flying Events Committee (i.e. school supplies, coats, wrapped gifts for children) which will be donated to a local charity.

All AAAA Pilots will be issued a baggie, the first time you register/fly in an AAAA event. Pilot will be responsible for the baggie. If you lose your baggie you will be charged $5.00 for a new one.

Only one (1) AAAA baggie per registered pilot per balloon will be scored. Only baggies will be scored unless the Flying Events Committee has given you a different scoring device.

Scoring is limited to a 200 foot radius of the target.

No touchdowns or landings within the scoring area. You can land before the target to change passengers BUT you cannot move the balloon to better your position.

No crew or chase vehicles within the scoring area. On fly in tasks the target will not be put out until all balloons and vehicles have been removed from scoring area.

Pilot and/or crew are responsible for retrieval of Baggies thrown outside of the scoring area.

Flying events will be a monthly event, with prizes awarded to the top three (3) pilots that came closest to the center of the target. Prizes will also be awarded at the end of the year for the Top 20 pilots.

It is MANDATORY that you have fun each month - have fun flying, participating in the crew/pilot games and enjoy tailgating with the club.

Remember common courtesy - respect each other as you inflate your balloon. Don't ascend and descent too rapidly. Don't get "target fixation" and forget your surroundings. Safe flying is always more important than winning a prize.

Final discretion of the above is at the judgment of the Flying Events Committee.
